If you own at least eight houses, does that mean you are out of touch with the average person during a softening economy? The question comes as both presidential candidates are considered finacially wealthy.
Senator Barack Obama says Senator John McCain is out of touch. During an interview with Politico.com, McCain did not know the number of homes he owned. Later, it was found most of the exclusive properties were owned by his wife, Cindy. Cindy McCain is wealthy from her family’s beer distribution company.
Speaking of the McCain finances, it was also reported recently Cindy McCain spent $750 thousand dollars on her American express card in one month. John McCain also said earlier this month, at the Civil Forum, a person is wealthy when they make $5 million dollars.
On the other side of the aisle, Barack Obama is said to have one home in Illinois. The cost of that home is estimated at $1.65 million dollars. The McCain campaign is firing back saying, obama benefited from a 2005 land deal with the wife a the convicted Chicago businessman and former Obama fundraiser, Tony Rezko. The McCain officials say the purchase raises questions about Obama’s ethics and judgement.
Who is out of touch and why?
