President Bush pardoned his last turkey as president. The latest fowl to be pardoned, Pumpkin. The alternate turkey, Pecan also was released from being part of a Thanksgiving spread. The 2008 event marked the 61st time the practice has taken place at the White House. The ceremony dates back to President Truman. Pumpkin and Pecan will live out their days at Disneyland. Word is, once pardoned, the turkeys do not live more than a year. They die of natural causes not from a fork and knife.
