President Obama’s Long Form Birth Certificate

Posted by Dan Pfeiffer on April 27, 2011 at 08:57 AM EDT

In 2008, in response to media inquiries, the President’s campaign requested his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. The state sent the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and the campaign immediately posted it on the internet. That birth certificate can be seen here (PDF) <http://whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate.pdf> .

When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal Government and the courts for all legal purposes. That’s because it is the birth certificate. This is not and should not be an open question.

The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting. President Barack Obama’s long form birth certificate can be seen here <http://whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf> (PDF) <http://whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf> . Correspondence with the Hawaii State Department of Health can be seen here (PDF) <http://whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-correspondence.pdf> .

At a time of great consequence for this country – when we should be debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once again distracted by a fake issue. The President’s hope is that with this step, we can move on to debating the bigger issues that matter to the American people and the future of the country.

President Obama answers questions about the budget, reducing the deficit, and improving America’s fiscal future at a town hall event at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, VA.   The town hall meeting comes as Standard and Poor’s say in the next few years the Federal Government is positioned to loose its AAA credit rating if it does not come up with a plan to reduce the deficit.

Orange County Republican Committee member Marilyn Davenport is in hot water after distributing an email that features President Obama as the child of a family of chimpanzees. In the email, which was widely-distributed, the long-standing committee member sent out the picture with the caption, “Now you know why – No birth certificate!”

County GOP Chairman Scott Baugh has called for Davenport’s resignation, saying that the picture was “dripping with racism and is in very poor taste.”He also referred the matter to the GOP Ethics Committee.

“I’m sorry if my email offended anyone, I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth,” said Davenport. “In no way did I even consider the fact he’s half black when I sent out the email. In fact, the thought never entered my mind until one or two other people tried to make this about race. We all know a double standard applies regarding this president. I received plenty of emails about George Bush that I didn’t particularly like, yet there was no ‘cry’ in the media about them.”

President Obama lays out his plan to reduce the deficit by $4 trillion over the next 12 years and to ensure America’s future wealth and prosperity in a speech at The George Washington University in Washington, DC.  After the Presidents speech, Gene Sperling, Economic Advisor, quickly walked to the back of the hall and met and shook hands with Republican House Budget Committee Chair Paul Ryan.  Ryan says both parties are far apart on crucial budget issues.

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden are joined by President Obama and Vice President Biden as they launch Joining Forces, a national initiative to support and honor America’s service members and their families.

The President and the Vice President met with Speaker Boehner and Leader Reid in the Oval Office to continue their discussions about the need to fully fund the government through the end of this fiscal year. After the meeting, President Obama explained why an agreement is so important and the impact a government shutdown would have on 800,000 federal workers and their families, millions of people who rely on government services and the economy overall.

Entrepreneur Donald Trump is in the second place spot for potential GOP candidates for President. Trump is number one in polls for likely Tea Party voters.  He has not made his announcement for a run.  That is slated for June.  As he eyes the Oval Office he has leveled some serious attacks against President Obama NBC has fact checked.

House Speaker John Boehner says there is no agreement on the budget.  President Obama said ” We can’t have a my way or the highway approach.” Those words after an Oval Office meeting with President Barack Obama and GOP leaders tying to find fiscal midde ground before the April 8th budget deadline.  President obama says 73 billion can be trimmed from the budget but a Republican proposal calls for 6.2 trillion in budget cuts.  Both sided wrangled over the federal fiscal picture in the Oval Office in efforts to prevent a government shut down at April 8th at Midnight.

As the White House prepared for the highly anticipated meeting so did demonstrators outside of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. But, there is a new twist to an old strategy of demonstrating at the White House. Tuesday Morning, A child was outside the black Iron gates screamimg at the over 200 year old building professing God and denouncing President Obama on abortion and Homosexuality. According to authorities, The 11 year old, allegedly from Los Angeles, was part of a protest Monday outside the White House the day before. Today, a rainy and cold day in DC,  he stood waiting for the Republicans to arrive at the White House. He even chanted in support of House Speaker John Boehner. If you are wondering where his parents are, he said,”his father has a restraining order against him.” Secret Service Police questioned him and he was expecting someone to come back at lunchtime to bring him food.

It is Official President Barack Obama is again Presidental Candidate Barack Obama.   The Obama campaign office, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois has launched the campaign on line this morning.  The launch features a video saying,”It begins with us.”  Emails are also going out to supporters today with President Obama saying; “Today we are filing papers to launch our 2012 campaign.”  He goes on to say, “We are doing this now because the politics we believe in does not start with expensive TV ads or extravaganzas but with you—with people organizing block by block.”

Rewinding back a few years ago, then Presidential Candidate Obama, in his last bid for president raised 750 million dollars in his successful attempts at gaining the Oval Office.  Critics contend that figure can push a campaign tally this time to a billion dollars for the history making President.  The White House does not want to openly engage in conversations about those numbers as the country is climbing out of a recession.

Many grassroots persons donated small amouts to the campaign last time.  That campaign was based on “Hope” for a better tomorrows.   Now many of the grassroots supporters are feeling the pinch of the economy.
